Approximately 1 out of 10 children are acutely malnourished and 1 out of 14 children will die prior to reaching the age of 5. Malnutrition has effects that will last a lifetime. Research has shown that malnutrition, suffered during the first two years of life, has resulted in physical and mental disabilities, as well as debilitated immune systems. These debilitated immune systems lead to increased susceptibility of diseases and contribute to the high rate of childhood death. 

Mission Direct Haiti provided over 2,000 meals during our first annual "Day of Change" and will provide more during this year's event. We believe in teaching a man to fish, rather than simply giving a man a fish. In addition to events, and maintaining a food bank, MDH plans to teach agriculture skills that will empower individuals and transform communities.
